Sliding Suzie Rail:

This sliding gantry coupling device is designed for operator safety. By sliding to the extreme edge of the body, the mechanism makes connection and disconnection of the air or electrical suzie lines quicker, easier and safer as the need to access the area between the tractor unit and the trailer is eliminated.

Light Pan Brackets:

Light pan brackets house and protect the brake and reverse lights. They can take many forms to suit individual operations, but are usualy of stainless steel construction and can be single or double plates. Lights can be surface-mounted or recessed. When a retractable tail lift is fitted, a vertical light pan bracket is usually necessary. Some operators believe that an 'infilled' stainless steel type bracket offers a more attractive appearance.

A selection of Gray & Adams light pan brackets are shown below:

  • Single Light Pan Bracket with Surface-Mounted Lights on a Gray & Adams Trailer
  • Double Light Pan Bracket with Surface-Mounted Lights on a Gray & Adams Trailer

Side Guards & Skirts:

  • Hinged alloy side guard rails are fitted as a standard legal requirement to all bodies and trailers. Otherwise known as ‘cycle guards', these offer safety to cyclists since he/she will bounce off the rails rather than be pulled under the wheels in the event of an accident.
  • These can be replaced by side skirts, which some operators believe to be more aesthetically pleasing. Gray & Adams can provide side skirts that help to increase fuel economy due to their aerodynamic properties.
  • A variation on the standard side guard rail is a set-up where the rail is extended past the rear wheels to offer extra safety.
  • A recent development in the sideguard range at Gray & Adams is the option to have the rails fitted to the chassis rather than the traditional method of fitting to the underside of the body. This minimises damage to the body in the event of an accident involving a collision with the sideguard.

Anti-Spray Equipment:

Various anti-spray flaps, wings and valances are available to suit your operations individual requirements. You can choose from the following combinations: individual mud wings and anti-spray flaps; full width rear flap; or valance and flaps. Usually anti-spray equipment is made of Thermoplastic material, however, stainless steel mudguards and valances are also offered for a more heavy-duty operation. These can also increase the aesthetic appeal of the trailer.

As an alternative Spraydown flaps can be opted for.  The Spraydown system makes driving in wet conditions safer as it significantly reduces vehicle spray.  Spraydown flaps have the added advantage of helping to reduce fuel consumption.  More information on the Spraydown spray suppression system can be found at www.spraydown.com.

Some of the anti-spray options are shown below:

Jump Start:

This piece of equipment can be fixed to side guards and is connected to the battery of the vehicle. It can be used to ‘jump start' the vehicle in the event of a breakdown to eliminate the need to access the battery itself.

Fuel Tank:

Gray & Adams thermoplastic fuel tanks are usually fixed between the landing legs. They have a 240-litre capacity and can be single or dual necked.

Tool Boxes, Spare Wheel Carriers, Pallet Carriers and Fire Extinguishers can all be fixed to the exterior of the trailer or body so that they can be included in the design without taking up valuable internal space. Pallet carriers are available in bespoke sizes and spare wheel carriers can be single or double and can take the form of a cage or can be enclosed:
