  Twin & Lifting Deck Trailers

Gray & Adams broke new ground in the late 1990s with the introduction of the company’s first refrigerated twin deck trailer design and have since developed a range of bespoke specifications for single and multi-temperature, as well as dry freight, applications. The trailers come with fixed or moving floors, which form the upper deck.

What can a Twin Deck Trailer Offer over a Standard Single Deck Trailer?

  • Up to 70% increased carrying capacity
  • 60% more floor area
  • 44 tonne maximum weight utilisation
  • 1.9m (6’3”) deck heights within 4.45m overall height

Less Vehicle Movements and Reduction in Running Miles Means:

  • Huge environmental benefit
  • Lower overall fleet maintenance costs
  • Significant fuel savings
  • Reduction in labour costs
  • Other overall running costs reduced, such as tyres etc

FIXED DECK TRAILER SOLUTIONS

Key Features / Options for Fixed Deck Trailers:

  • Independent temperature control on each level
  • Multi-temperature configurations on each level
  • Combination or single rear door systems
  • External and internal tail lift options, offering a potential load and unload time of 40 minutes
  • Designs to accommodate roll cages and pallets
  • Independent tri-axle suspension
  • Hygienic one piece insulation sandwich panel construction.

LIFTING DECK TRAILER SOLUTIONS

The Lifting Deck Trailer offers an increased speed of loading and unloading compared to a fixed deck alternative – a single floor movement eliminates the need for a tail lift and provides a proven load turnaround time of approximately 20 minutes.

Key Features / Options for Lifting Deck Trailers:

  • The lifting deck is operated hydraulically as standard, with independent power supply
  • 40 pallet capacity
  • 17.5” twin wheels on drum brakes
  • Rear steer option
  • Independent temperature control available on each floor
  • Fully CE approved.

GRAY & ADAMS UNIQUE CODESYS OPERATING SYSTEM

Gray & Adams lifting deck trailers can now be specified to include a CODESYS operating system, which is exclusive to Gray & Adams.  This is a diagnostic system that allows engineers to fault find quickly and helps them to monitor the lifting deck system.  The solenoids, controls, motor amps and hydraulic pressure can all be assessed using Codesys.

Because the trailer keeps a fault log and can tell the engineer what the problem is without him going through a time-consuming testing process, breakdown times are significantly reduced.  If a fault is detected by Codesys, help pages are available that offer instructions to the engineer.

For more information on Codesys operating systems, please contact Dave Smith at Gray & Adams Fraserburgh on 01346 518001 or by email d.smith@gray-adams.com.

SOLAR PANELS

Gray & Adams can now offer a solar panel feature for lifting deck trailers which are used to charge the trailer's lifting deck battery.  The below feature was printed in Commercial Motor magazine in May 2008 and outlines the key features and benefits of the solar panel system fitted to Gray & Adams customer Reed Boardall's lifting deck fleet.  To view an enlarged version of the feature, please click on the image.

Solar panels can be fitted to any Gray & Adams product that uses batteries.

For more information on solar panels for lifting deck trailers, please contact Dave Smith at Gray & Adams Fraserburgh on 01346 518001 or by email d.smith@gray-adams.com.
