14 May Celebrating a Remarkable Career with Clive Horn: 19 Years of Dedication at Gray & Adams
After nearly two decades of dedicated service, Clive Horn, one of Gray & Adams’ long-serving team members reflects on a career marked by growth, innovation, and loyalty.
Having joined Gray & Adams in February 2006, Clive brought with him a wealth of experience as a fleet engineer, where he was already familiar with the company’s products. His early career involved managing fleets and working with refrigeration manufacturers, where he handled the Gray & Adams accounts before officially becoming part of the team.
Over 19 years, his role evolved, from his starting position as Sales Manager to overseeing major supermarket and blue-chip accounts such as Tesco, DHL, Iceland, and McDonald’s. Tesco became one of the company’s largest accounts under his management, showcasing his ability to handle complex client relationships and large-scale operations.
He witnessed significant changes at Gray & Adams during his tenure. “There’s always been lots of innovation and new ideas,” he said. “The company has consistently invested in the factory and improved working processes.” He spoke proudly of Gray & Adams’ reputation for integrity: “We’re an honourable company—we deliver what we say we will and never run away from a problem.”
Among his proudest moments was never losing his passion for coming to work: “I had 19 years and never not liked going to work—it was a great company to work for.” He also fondly remembered Gray & Adams’ 60th anniversary event attended by Prince Charles as a particularly proud day.
Asked about the highlights of his time with the company, he said it was the people and partnerships that made the job special: “Working with a lot of owner and family businesses, like Turners Distribution, was really rewarding. It’s the biggest independent haulier in the country. Gray & Adams has always been a great company to work with.”
For those just starting their journey at Gray & Adams, he had this advice: “When you join Gray & Adams and work hard, you get the rewards. They really look after their employees.”
Now entering retirement, he has big plans to enjoy life. He’s already travelled to Asia for six weeks and is looking forward to more adventures by doing a bit more travelling. Clive is also looking forward to spending more time on the golf course and getting his handicap down.
As he closes this chapter, Gray & Adams celebrates not just his career, but the values he represents—dedication, integrity, and a genuine passion for the work.
