07 Dec Case Study: Gist
Gist prides itself in working with its customers to deliver innovative solutions and transform supply chains, with a track record spanning more than 50 years. Deploying industry-leading expertise in global supply chains, it creates competitive advantage for its customers by bringing end-to-end visibility and implementation, along with environmental benefits.
Its centralised national transport planning team provides integrated transport solutions to ensure maximum efficiency and cost savings for its customers. Combining its experience and intellectual knowledge with its national coverage and the largest chilled transport fleet in the UK, Gist works hard to reduce food miles, limiting empty runs and improving costs and fuel efficiency for its customers each day.
For over 40 years, almost the whole life of the Gist business, Gray & Adams has been building its fleet which currently includes a mix of Double Decks and Twin Evaporator Single Decks, building over 50 trailers for them each year.
Setting the standard
In terms of innovation, Gray & Adams works tirelessly to offer advice, support and solutions to ensure Gist’s fleet is always evolving and growing into the requirements of the future. Through a consistent focus on understanding the ever-changing needs of Gist’s business, the bespoke product and service offering creates unparalleled confidence that their products and services can stand the test of time.
Not content with simply selling products, Gray & Adams actively offers improvements to the specifications of products, most recently suggesting a galvanised chassis in response to the wear patterns recorded on their trailers.
Industry leading service
Through regular site visits, calls, online meetings and robust relationship management Gray & Adams takes the time to learn every aspect of their customers business operations. Moreover, the team has developed and delivered bespoke in-house training to the Gist maintenance team to ensure they are always able to be self-reliant, in addition to delivering responsive and agile after-sales care and support services.
Creating added value
Though the whole life cost of its products is low and the products are highly durable, the ethos of the Gray & Adams team is to go above and beyond delivering quality products for its customers. The team feeds into Gist’s refurbishment programme after the first seven years of a product’s lifecycle, with key market insights to add greater value to the business and the fleet. This added value allows Gist to get the most from the products for the duration of their industry-leading lifespan.
