Retirement Spotlight | Alick Neish

Gray & Adams said goodbye to long-serving employee Alick Neish. Working as a welder fabricator in Fraserburgh, Alick has worked for Gray & Adams for the last 24 years. We caught up with Alick just after his retirement to find out more about what he will miss about working for Gray & Adams and what he is looking forward to as he enters this new chapter.

 

What was your role at Gray & Adams and what were your day-to-day responsibilities?

I was a welder fabricator.

 

What did you do before you came to Gray & Adams and why did you want to work for the company?

I worked for Fraserburgh engineering and was contracted to Gray & Adams for around 9-10 months of the year, before I moved to work there full time. There was job security at Gray & Adams too which I valued.

 

What was your biggest achievement while working for Gray & Adams?

No standout achievement but I really enjoyed my 24 years, it was nice company to work for.

 

What did you enjoy most about working for Gray & Adams?

My colleagues. It was a great workforce and my managers were nice, notably my manager Dale.

 

What are your plans for retirement?

Making furniture, I’ve always been handy with my hands so it’s been keeping me busy.
